Mission to Kenya — June, 2019

Randy Mayfield and the All Star Band performing in KenyaRandy and his band, “The All Star Band,” traveled with a team to Kenya, Africa in June of 2019. Their primary goal was to use music to reach and encourage the young people of Kapenguria, West Pokot, Kenya.

RM kids in KenyaDuring their 10 day tour, they performed in a number of local high schools to more than 2,000 students and they were well received. Randy sang in English, Kiswahili and their native tribal language of Kalengin. They especially enjoyed the Kalengin as they rarely hear a visitor speak or sing in their tribal tongue! (Kinda an Acts. Chapter 2 in the Bible!)

Kenya Team & Lion shotThis was Randy’s 18th trip to Kenya to visit his friends in Kapenguria where they have established several churches, schools, a Bible College and many other outreach ministries in this area of Kenya.

2026 update on Life and Ministry

Hi… it’s been a while but I thought I’d give you a quick update on what’s been going on over the past few years.  DIspite what it says above, this was posted on March 26, 2026. I don’t really know how to use this web page.  Anyway… I’m going on 6 years since my retirement/refirement and nothing has really slowed down, I just get to call my own shots.  Over the past couple of years my International travel has slowed down, which is probably good in today’s environment!

Sharon and I had a nice trip to the Amalfi Coast in Italy last May, I visited The Micah Project in Honduras in August and I officiated my sister-in-law, Debbie’s funeral on the beach in So. Calif. She had Kidney failure and my brother, Scott, took care of her well for many years.  I also officiated a wedding for a good friend in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico in Oct.  This year has been a number of trips to Ohio to see the kids and grand-babies, Christmas in Philadelphia with Justin and Greeshma and this month (March) a few weeks in Bodega Bay, CA where I sang for our church here and spent some time with family and my friend, Andy and we also celebrated my girlfriend/bride’s birthday.  I won’t give you her age, but when my 5 year old grandson, Kellen, said her age, he waved his hands up and down, so you can guess! 🙂

I’m looking forward to return to Calif. in April as I was honored to be named my High School’s “Tiger of the Year!”  (Chaffey Tigers in Ontario, CA)  then back to Ohio for Afton’s 12th birthday!!  I can’t believe it, she will be 12.  Time truly does fly! Afton will visit us in June and then Mandy, Brian and Kellen will come to pick her up and we’ll take in the St. Louis Air Show with the Blue Angels and many other cool airplanes!

Had a fun evening hearing one of my favorite singers, Abi Carter perform. She won the 2025 America’s Got Talent.  She’s really good!!

Life has been so good to me and Sharon and I have been blessed abundantly. I hit the big 7-0 in August so I’m just glad I’m still hanging in there to enjoy all that God has in store for me in the coming years!   Blessings,  Randy
